GoDaddy (GDDY) Airo: 50% of Websites + Marketing Paid Subscriptions

Summary
GoDaddy says 50% of paid Websites + Marketing subscriptions now originate with Airo, its post-domain AI setup flow, but it has not quantified the renewal or revenue gain.
On August 7, 2025, GoDaddy (GDDY) said on its earnings call that customer cohorts who had been through Airo consistently outperformed non-Airo cohorts on average order size, multiproduct attach rates and renewals, without disclosing how large any of those three gaps were.[1] Airo is the automated setup flow a customer lands in after buying a domain, and as of the February 13, 2025 call it was the origin of 50% of paid Websites + Marketing subscriptions.[2]
What Airo is and where it sits in GoDaddy's business
GoDaddy Inc. (GDDY) is the world's largest domain registrar. Its customers are mostly micro-business owners and solo entrepreneurs, and its revenue comes from subscriptions: domain registration and renewal, website hosting, site-building and marketing packages, and business email. The company reports two segments, Applications and Commerce, which is mainly its own software, and Core Platform, which is mainly domains and hosting.
Airo is an automated business-launch entry point that spans both segments. After a customer buys a domain, the system uses generative AI to produce a basic website, a logo, ready-to-publish social content and a business email address on the customer's own domain, and in the same flow it steers that customer toward paid products such as site building and marketing.[5] The people who use it are small-business owners who are just starting out and cannot build a site themselves. What Airo governs is new-customer entry and product attach, which places it in GoDaddy's core business.
How the rollout progressed from 2023 to 2025
The public starting point is the November 2, 2023 earnings call, where the company gave this post-domain automatic generation experience its name and explained what it does. The multiproduct customer share and the retention rate mentioned on that same call were company-wide figures and were not counted as Airo results.[5]
2024 was the rollout year. By the middle of the year Airo covered all new and existing customers across GoDaddy's English-speaking markets, and the paid mechanism was spelled out at the same time: the system first generates a Coming Soon page automatically, then places the paywall for a full website at that same point.[4] By the third quarter of that year it was available in more than 180 countries.[3]
Over the following year Airo moved from a one-time generation tool bundled with a domain purchase to the main acquisition funnel for paid website products, and the company added a higher tier, Airo Plus, bundling advanced logos, AI marketing tools and stronger site-building capability.[2] By August 7, 2025, practically all new customers at the top of the funnel enter Airo.[1]
What the Airo numbers measure, and what they do not
The first readings that belong to Airo itself appeared in mid-2024: in that quarter over one million new customers discovered it and over 0.5 million actively engaged with it. The same call disclosed a limited controlled experiment in which Websites + Marketing conversions improved 12%.[4] By the third quarter of that year discovery had risen to nearly 3 million customers, more than half of whom engaged, and over 40% of that quarter's paid Websites + Marketing subscriptions originated with Airo.[3] One quarter later that share was 50%.[2] The two share disclosures belong to different quarters, and the later one did not state its measurement period, so they can be set side by side but not subtracted from each other.
The share describes which entry point a subscription came through. It does not mean that half of those subscriptions were created by Airo on top of what GoDaddy would have sold anyway. The 12% conversion improvement likewise comes from a single experiment whose sample, duration and definitions were never disclosed.
Where the chain would reach revenue, and what is still missing
The chain ends at subscription revenue, specifically the part contributed by paid Websites + Marketing subscriptions. Airo builds a publishable website for the customer immediately after the domain purchase and then puts the paid site-building and marketing packages on that same path, so the first thing it changes is where those subscriptions come from. If the customers who enter through this door renew for longer and buy more, subscription revenue would be lifted through higher retention and a higher product count.
That is the path the company describes, and numbers do not yet support it. In early 2025 the first Airo cohort to reach the 13-month mark showed early signs of improved renewals in both domains and site building, and on that same call the company said the financial benefit in 2025 was expected to be more modest.[2] To date GoDaddy has not tied Airo to a change in any period's revenue or bookings.
The operating change that can be confirmed today sits on the customer-acquisition side: Airo is already the largest entry funnel for GoDaddy's paid website products. On whether that same group of customers is worth more, the company has given only a direction. The next reading that could most change this judgment is the specific difference in renewal rate between Airo and non-Airo cohorts. With that figure, the channel share could for the first time be converted into incremental Websites + Marketing subscription revenue.
