Pacific Metals forecast consolidated net profit of ¥1.3 billion for the fiscal year ending March 2027, down 49% from the previous year, revising its earlier forecast of a 95% decline to ¥134 million.

Taiheiyo Metal announced it will begin joint demonstration tests with the University of Tokyo from October to December 2026 to smelt rare metals such as nickel and cobalt from manganese nodules collected off Minamitorishima near the Ogasawara Islands, using nodules recovered by the university in fiscal 2027 and processing them at Taiheiyo Metal's Hachinohe plant through fiscal 2029.
