The company operates Atlantic Union Bank, which provides traditional banking and financial services across Virginia, Maryland, and North Carolina. Originally known as Union Bankshares Corporation, the company changed its name to Atlantic Union Bankshares Corporation in May 2019. The bank has grown significantly through strategic acquisitions, including American National Bankshares in 2024 and the pending acquisition of Sandy Spring Bancorp, which is expected to create the largest regional bank in the lower Mid-Atlantic region.
